Frequently asked questions
Will I have to have an internal examination?
If you have come for any gynaecological matter it is often extremely beneficial to have an internal examination "down below". I will always explain why something might be useful and show you on a model what I am going to do. I will explain what we can gain from doing it before you decide whether or not you would be willing to consent to an examination. There will always be the option to say "no" or "maybe later" whenever you want. It's always your choice.
How do you decide what we will do each time?
Every session will be fully collaborative and nothing will ever be done without your full understanding and consent. There are always more than one way to skin a cat and we can make a mutual decision about what is best each and every time.
Will the treatment be pain-free?
Nothing should be painful. Some treatments may make you feel tender or achey for a day or so but if this is the case then it will always be explained in full beforehand.

I recommend the use of SRC shorts for prolapse and urinary incontinence and you can get 10% off by using the code PHYSIODOWNBELOW.
Will my appointment be private?
Nobody will know that you have come to see a pelvic health physiotherapist unless you want them to. I have a strict confidentiality agreement with every single client. If you would like me to liaise with a GP, consultant or anyone else specific then we can discuss how is best to do this on each occasion, keeping people up to date as is required and / or appropriate.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on every individual. It may be that one educational session is sufficient but same may require several more. A few people enjoy knowing a therapist will be there for them in the long term.
Can I bring my baby or child?
I am as baby and child friendly as possible and there will always be toys and carpet to play on for children as necessary. However, if you think an internal examination may be a requirement it can make it less relaxing for you and more difficult to concentrate on what it is going on if there is a small person also demanding your attention!
Should I book a Post Partum Check an Initial Appointment or a Pelvic Pain Appointment?
It doesn’t matter at all - they’re all the same length, but it gives me (and you) an idea of what might happen in the appointment.
What will it cost?

Follow up consultation: £67
